RETAIL INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS GROUP-LINKEDIN

Hi, I have been really heavy into Social Media and learning how to really get the most out of it both revenue-wise and branding-wise for about the last 6 months. I have been using social networks like Plaxo and LinkedIn since they launched, but it took me a little while to get into the swing of things with Twitter and the other new ones. Ping.fm has really helped me "broadcast" messages on to all my social networks at once, which allows me to leverage my current contacts and gain new ones. Everyone should check it out. I really like how everyone has sort of been forced into social networking when before it was kind of voluntary. What I have found is that the more "stuff" you get out there (i.e. short posts, new article urls, tips, company news, promotions, etc.), the more followers you will acquire and therefore grow your network larger (because people are finding your content and then following you). On the other side of the equation you have to activity add friends and followers on networks to really build it out for yourself. Just some ideas for everyone, let me know how you do you thing with Social.

Yes, I agree Ping.fm is a creditable and effective. At first, I was concerned with how it would affect my Facebook account - they can be rather difficult when we are using such services and suspend.

What other SEO strategies are you implementing?

Sincerely,

Hey Evan,

Great post! SNS is smooth, viral non-advertising, non interruption. We used to call it referral and viral marketing when we did this with print. I once did a free print postcard campaign where the student (senders) asked their parent (recipients) to sign them up for pre-paid calling. Images on the postcards were humorous situations depicting reasons kids didn't call home more often; like lab experiments gone bad for example. Turned out, Mom and dad just couldn't say no to their kids wanting to call home more often. That's referral marketing with a 96% response rate.

Everyone wants to be connected, in the loop, in the circle. That's what social media marketing is all about Charlie Brown.

Here are some more places you'll find me.

Very interesting we have only just started looking at marketing through social media will haev a look at Ping.

We are starting to see a lot of interest in mobile marketing and specifically around e-coupons sent to the cell phone and then redeemed in store by scanning. We have just launched a new product that is a fixed position imager capable of reading 1D and 2D barcodes from mobile device displays and are starting to see a lot of interest in companies running promotions along these lines. There is a good case study available using the Datalogic Magellan with Dari Mart and Pepsico in the US that delivered some very good results available here https://easeofaccess.scanning.datalogic.com/public/marketlit/Send.a...

The major advantages of e-coupons appear to be the appeal to younger market, males and the availability and tracabilty.
